Gayda - En Passant Blanc White
Gayda - En Passant Blanc White
Domaine Gayda
The pale yellow colour with silver highlights is beautifully clear, revealing a silky texture that catches the light. The nose is discreet and elegant, with aromas of Granny Smith apple, fresh apricot and subtle hints of almond blossom. A few zests of Sorrento lemon add a delicate freshness. On the palate, the attack is fresh and chiselled, followed by a sensation of fullness and generosity, punctuated by a hint of sweetness. Flavours of pear and fresh almond blossom before giving way to a mineral and spicy finish with notes of white pepper, offering depth and length.

Awards:
“An intensely floral nose that layers honeysuckle over very ripe green-gold figs. It tastes a lot more complex than, surely, a (wine at this price) should! It is even a little white-Rhône-like. The top layers of fruit are sharp and bright and crunchy firm: apricot straight off the tree, vineyard peach. But then the wine starts to deepen and widen in the middle, taking on praline, pan-grilled almond, gorse blossom. It’s structured with a tug of texture but also broad and generous. A little spicy on the end. Well done! (…) A little bit of pineapple (slightly on the tart side), white passion fruit, a wash of broad and tingling acidity, sweet grapefruit and green sage and a tiny bit of saltiness that takes me to the sea. This is the epitome of freshness. It's a celebration. It's an energy tonic.” - 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson
“A clean, fresh and lively white filled with plenty of ripe stone fruit flavours of apricot and peach combine with citrus touches and a crisp apple bite alongside hints of butter pastry and honey. This is enjoyable and good value.” - 90/100 Decanter
